Master Classics of Poker with Silow

Master Classics of Poker returns another year, played from 6th through 14th November at Holland Casino Amsterdam. This will be the 18th edition of the Master Classics of Poker. Back again is also poker pro Oskar Silow who will compete in the Main Event €6000+€200 buy-in. We had the chance to interview Oskar before the competition.

G: Tell us a little about you experiences of Master Classics of Poker.
S: I love Amsterdam and the tournaments here. The structure is great, the staff friendly, the casino nice and clean. Really got nothing negative to say about the set up here at all =)


G: What are your expectations before the tournament?
S: I've been running cold lately so not too high, but it has to turn around sometime. Maybe this will be the turning point?


G: What type of players can you expect to meet in Master Classics of Poker, Main Event?
S: A nice mix of beginners and pros. It's a very very nice event, but for some reason gets a lot less attention than the EPT´s and therefore attracts less sharks =)


G: You are a pretty regular blogger both in Swedish newspaper (Expressen) and your own blog in English (OskarSilow.com). Has writing a poker blog improved your game anything, and if that is the case, in what way?
S: I think it actually might have had negative effect on my game. Well a little of both I suppose. It's good in a way cause when you know people are watching you more closely you try not to make a fool of yourself and tilt for example. On the downside exposing yourself like I have gives other players a somewhat better understanding of your game. Although I'm smart enough to be deceitful.


G: Would you recommend other poker players to blog as well? What should they think about?
S: They should think about why they are blogging and try to find a niche rather than just putting another blog on the net.


G: Finally, what are the 3 best things about the Netherlands?
S: I think the stereotypic answer would be sex and drugs and rock and roll, but since that is not really me I'd have to go with the architecture, variety of restaurants and that I'm 100% final tables here so far of the tournaments I've played here.
